Book Reading & Coffee: Consciousness and the Subject–Object Distinction (Vedanta)
📅 WED 24 JUN 2026
⏰ 15:00h
Cost: FREE
Organised by: Mats W
An informal afternoon gathering over coffee to explore one of the most profound teachings in Vedanta — the distinction between the subject (the witness, the knower, Consciousness itself) and the object (everything that is perceived, thought, or experienced).
This distinction is the cornerstone of Advaita Vedanta and one of the most direct pointers to understanding the nature of the Self. We'll read from selected texts together — possibly including Adi Shankaracharya's Vivekachudamani or similar works — share reflections, and ask together: What is it that is always aware? Can the knower ever become the known?
No background in philosophy or Vedanta required. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to look.
Note: This gathering will be conducted in English.
You cannot be what you observe. The eye does not see itself. The knower is never the known — and that which knows is what you are.
